My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love you above all things and I desire to receive you in my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment receive you sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace you as if you were already there and unite myself wholly to you.
Never permit me to be
separated from you.
Amen.
I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever, and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world. ( John 6:51)
Jesus instituted the sacrament of Eucharist at the Last Supper through the sacrifice of his Precious Body and Blood. It is the gift we celebrate at each and every Mass through the breaking of the bread. The sacrament of Eucharist completes the sacraments of Christian Initiation, which include Baptism and Confirmation.
The Sacrament of Eucharist is celebrated along with the Sacrament of Reconciliation for 2nd graders and older. For children not attending Catholic School, enrollment in a full-time faith formation program (CCE, Home Study, or Family Faith) is required for a minimum of one year prior and during the sacramental preparation year so that there is a foundation of the faith upon which the child can go deeper with during sacramental preparation.
Eucharist for Adults, non-Baptized children (or children baptized in another denomination) of catechetical age go through the OCIA process.
The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) offers formation for adults and non-baptized children (or children baptized in another denomination) aged 7 and older to come into full communion with the Catholic Church through the reception of the sacraments of Christian Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist).
