Educating the parish with bulletin items, brochures of the month, Respect Life emails, brochures in the library and at Hospitality Sunday tables
Brochure of the Month: a particular brochure is featured in the bulletin and available in the narthex and at the Ave Maria Center each month. A summary of the brochure is emailed to ministry leaders to share with their members, and copies are available to them to bring to meetings. Respect Life members are encouraged to bring the brochure of the month to the regular meetings of the other ministries they participate in. See link on the right.
Rosary for the Preborn: On the second Sunday of the month, after the 11 am Mass, parishioners are invited to join Respect Life Members and the Knights of Columbus in praying a rosary for an end to abortion. We gather in the courtyard around the fountain. In case of rain, we will pray under the covered area. Please sign up to lead a decade here.
Gabriel Project: to help pregnant women in need. Volunteer "Angels" are trained and matched to help women referred to us by the central phone contact at the diocese. For more information please contact Sylvia Gutierrez, [email protected], 281-980-9812
Publication of Diocesan Programs and Events: The archdiocese coordinates Project Rachel, for healing after abortion, St Joseph ministry to support foster families, and Jerome's Hope to support those experiencing miscarriage, early infant death, adverse fetal diagnosis, or infertility. They also offer classes in Bioethics including Beginning of Life issues, End of Life issues, and Medical Ethics and Experimentation. In addition to bulletin announcements, flyers are posted on the bulletin boards outside the Social Concerns office and the Music Room to provide information on events sponsored by these programs.
Spiritual Adoption program: In late August, parishioners are invited to spiritually adopt a newly conceived child who is in danger of abortion, and say a short prayer for the child each day. The development of the child is followed with monthly announcements in the bulletin. The program concludes with a baby item tag line to benefit the Gabriel Project in May. (Proceeds from the shower are shared with other parishes.) See link on the right.
