Marriage PreparationThe focus of marriage preparation is not centered primarily on planning the wedding. Its focus is on preparing to live out a lifelong union of love with the Lord.
PREP ONLY - If you are planning to wed in another parish within the U.S., but outside of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, contact us a minimum of 1 year prior to the wedding date. A fee of $250 is applied to cover materials and shipping costs.
To begin marriage preparation for a wedding at St. Laurence, please plan to attend a Wedding Information Session at least six to nine months prior to the proposed wedding date. At the Wedding Information Session, you will learn what classes are required for your marriage preparation, how to register for each class, and details about having your wedding at St. Laurence.
INTERNATIONAL WEDDINGS: If you are planning for a wedding outside of the U.S., contact us a minimum of 1 year prior to the wedding date. Check regulations about civil marriage prior to church wedding. A fee of $300 is applied to cover materials and international shipping costs.Wedding Information Sessions:

According to the Canon Law (the law of the Church), for a marriage to be valid, there are certain requirements:- at least one of the spouses must be a baptized Catholic;
- the wedding must be celebrated in a Catholic church in the presence of a Catholic priest/deacon/bishop and two other witnesses;
- the two spouses must be free to be married (e.g., no prior valid marriages); and
- they must be psychologically mature and capable of consenting to the marriage; and they must understand the nature of Catholic marriage (i.e., exclusive, permanent, and open to having children).
Also, please note, either you, your fiance' or your parents must be currently registered/contributing parishioners for at least 6 months before scheduling a wedding at St. Laurence. There is no usage fee for parishioners. A usage fee of $2500 will be applied to non-parishioners, inactive parishioners and in certain other situations and must be paid prior to reserving the church for weddings.
