SPEAKER BIOS
Very Rev. Eurel Manzano
The Eucharist: Source and Summit! He currently serves as Rector of St. Mary’s Seminary in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, where he is also deeply involved in the formation of future priests. He has been Rector since July 2020, after previously serving on the seminary’s formation faculty from July 2019 to June 2020.
Ordained for the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, his priestly ministry has included serving as Pastor of Saint Theresa Catholic Church in Sugar Land from 2015 to 2019. Earlier assignments include Priest-Secretary and Master of Ceremonies in the Office of the Cardinal (2013–2015) and Parochial Vicar at Prince of Peace Catholic Church (2011–2013). He also served as a Transitional Deacon at All Saints Catholic Church from 2010 to 2011.
He holds a Master of Arts in Divinity from the University of St. Thomas School of Theology in Houston (2011) and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, magna cum laude, from Franciscan University of Steubenville in Ohio (2006).

Full, Active & Conscious Participation: It's the Heart of Worship!
The Church calls each of us to full, active, and conscious participation in Mass, which is both internal and external. Through such participation, we can be open to the movement of the Holy Spirit and discover the unity and communion to which the Sacrament of the Eucharist calls us to encounter. In this presentation, Bishop Gary will offer ways in which we can better experience the spiritual gifts of the Mass and enliven the practice of our faith throughout the week. Afterall, Full, Active, and Conscious Participation is the Heart of Worship!
Bishop Gary Janak born in El Campo, Texas on March 22, 1962, and raised in Palacios, Texas. He is the third of four children born to Joe and Rose Marie Janak. He was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Victoria in Texas on May 14, 1988, where heserved as a pastor, chancellor, and vicar general. He was also one of the founders of and director of The Emmaus Center, the counseling and spiritual direction ministry for the Diocese of Victoria. He holds degrees in canon law, divinity, and counseling and is a licensed by the State of Texas as a professional counselor. On February 15, 2021, he was appointed by Pope Francis as auxiliary bishop for the Archdiocese of San Antonio and ordained to the episcopacy on April 20, 2021. He chose “Give Your Servant a Listening Heart” as his episcopal motto. In the Archdiocese of San Antonio, he served as vocation director, in addition to his duties as auxiliary bishop and chancellor. On July 1, 2025, he was appointed as rector of Assumption Seminary.
