First of the 13-week devotion: Prayer to St. Anthony of Padua on his Character of being Humble (September 16, 2025)
O humble St. Anthony, though brilliant in intellect and eloquent in preaching, you sought no recognition for yourself but gave all glory to God alone. Your wisdom drew souls closer to Christ, yet you carried yourself with gentleness and humility, choosing always the hidden path of service.
Though you were blessed with wisdom, eloquence, and holiness, you clothed yourself in humility, choosing always to serve rather than to be served.
Teach me, dear Saint, to use my gifts not for pride or self-praise, but as instruments of God’s love and truth. Help me to remember that every talent is a gift from Him, and that true greatness lies in humility of heart. Help me to let go of pride and selfish ambition, and to embrace the quiet strength that comes from surrendering myself into God’s hands. May I speak with kindness, act with selflessness, and live with a spirit that points always to the Lord.
Intercede for me, St. Anthony, that I may grow in this virtue each day. May my words be gentle, my actions selfless, and my heart lowly before the Lord. Through humility, may I reflect Christ, who humbled Himself even unto the Cross, so that I may share in the joy of His Resurrection. Amen.
