February 17, 2026: Tenth of 13-week devotion: Prayer to St. Anthony of Padua on his Sermon topic of ‘Mercy, Compassion, and Almsgiving’
O holy St. Anthony, faithful preacher of God’s mercy, you taught that love for God is made visible through compassion for the poor, the weak, and the forgotten. Intercede for us, that our hearts may be softened and our lives shaped by the mercy we ourselves have received.
Teach us to see Christ in those who suffer, to respond generously to those in need, and to give not only from our abundance but from hearts willing to share and serve. Free us from indifference, selfishness, and fear, and help us to act with justice, kindness, and humility.
May our almsgiving be sincere, our compassion steadfast, and our mercy a reflection of God’s boundless love. Through your prayers, St. Anthony, may our faith be alive in works of charity and our lives become a witness to the Gospel. Amen.
